Ongwediva is located in the top populated north central parts of Namibia (700km north of the Capital City Windhoek) within the Oshana Region. The town area measures 8, 917.9341 hectares with a total urban population of about 20 260 inhabitants from a great variety of local, regional and international backgrounds. The development process of the town dates back to the nineteen sixties when it was first established in the traditional area of Headman Nandjembo Mengela and developed into a residential and institutional settlement.
Ongwediva, by virtue of its historical background, is a town with sharp contrast in terms of its urban set up. The town boast modern urban facilities including a diverse of private commercial and public institutions.
